HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - It's hard to imagine having a care in the world when spending a holiday on a sun splashed beach in Waikiki, but many people did.
That's because from the Kuhio groin down to the Natatorium, no fewer than three City and County public restrooms were locked up.
Tourists and locals alike reacted with disbelief.
"We have a bunch of kids with us and we can't shower them. My sister is pregnant and she can't even use the bathroom" said Chantelle Noa, who drove in from Kapolei.
"That is embarassing. I'm glad it doesn't bother me that much, personally" said Roland Pfeiffer, visiting from Canada.
Hawaii News Now reached out to the Department of Parks and Recreation, but being a holiday, the office was closed. However, multiple sources told Hawaii News Now the closures were because of a lack of toilet paper.
"Unacceptable...not excusable" said Noa.
"Somebody's not doing their job. That's the best I can come up with" said Dorothy Pfeiffer.
Roland Pfeiffer tried to keep it all in perspective. He has bigger concerns – namely, a flight back to Toronto where it's fifteen degrees below zero.
"Tiny little issue, but hey, you know--if you need some, you need some!"
