Humpback whales and the Whale Tales event takes place in Lahaina this weekend. Whale Tales is a two-day event that brings together whale researchers, filmmakers, & photographers to talk about their work and share it with the public. The 9th annual Whale Tales event will be held in Lahaina, Maui February 13 - 16, 2015. This event is hosted by Whale Trust Maui, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit research organization, and will feature world renowned whale researchers, conservationists, photographers, and filmmakers. Some of this year's highlights will include a preview of a new IMAX film featuring Whale Trust researchers, the use of cutting edge technology such as drones to understand whale behavior and satellite-monitored telemetry to tag and track whale migration. This educational event is free and open to the public.

Humpback whales continue to fascinate and captivate us. Why do they breach? Why do they sing? These are all part of the mysteries that the dedicated researchers of Whale Trust are studying and hoping to unlock. The Whale Tales event is an opportunity for us to learn about the latest research information regarding these magnificent mammals.
