HONOLULU - The University of Hawai'i men's basketball team played its first game at the Stan Sheriff Center in nearly three weeks, enjoying the home cooking with a 73-52 Big West Conference walloping of UC Riverside on Thursday night.
Roderick Bobbitt set a new UH mark for steals in a season, eclipsing Tom Henderson's 84 steals set during the 1971-72 season. Bobbitt finished the game with six points and four steals and now has 85 on the season.
Isaac Fleming led all scorers, posting 15 points off the bench for Hawai'i (17-9, 5-5 Big West).
Jaylen Bland had a team-high 13 points for the Highlanders (11-13, 4-6 BWC) who shot just 27% from the field.
UH trailed early but scored an incredible 21 straight points in the first half and held UC Riverside to without a field goal for nearly 15 minutes. The lead swelled to as many as 21 points in the second half as the 'Bows won going away.
UH next hosts Cal State Fullerton this Saturday, Feb. 14. Tip off at the Stan Sheriff Center is set for 7:00 p.m.
