Business Report: West Coast dock talks, airline ontime report, tax returns

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The two sides in the West Coast dock talks are back at the bargaining table today. The ILWU says few issues remain in its negotiations with the Pacific Maritime Association. Shipping continues. Matson's Manoa has arrived at Sand Island from Oakland. The Horizon Reliance arrives from Los Angeles tomorrow. Pasha's Jean Anne is at Kahului today.

A surprise in the December airline ontime report. Delta was 89% ontime, edging out Hawaiian. They also came in first and second at LAX. But Hawaiian did best at SFO, SeaTac and McCarron.

The Hawaii Department of Taxation issues starts from January, showing excise tax revenues up 7% from the same point last year.

NCL is nearly doubling its field marketing staff, including a lot more people in California. That could increase business for the Pride of America.

Bank of Hawaii works with Goodwill and the Legal Aid Society to train volunteers to do your tax returns. For people with household income of 53K or less, and do not own their own home or business, such assistance will be available, free, next Tuesday at Bankoh headquarters and the Waiakamilo branch.
