No tsunami threat to Hawaii after strong quake hits near Argentina

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A strong earthquake has shaken an area near Argentina, but it was not strong enough to generate a tsunami threat to Hawaii, according to the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center.

The quake was measured at an initial magnitude of 6.7, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The earthquake happened at 8:57 a.m. HST.
