3rd man charged in Oahu farm goat thefts

HONOLULU (AP) - A third suspect has been charged in connection with the theft of more than 20 goats from an Oahu farm.

The Honolulu Star-Advertiser reports that 26-year-old George Makaniolo of Waialua was charged last Wednesday with theft of livestock in connection with the September 2013 theft of 23 purebred Boer goats from Kahuku Goats.

It's unclear if Makaniolo has an attorney.

Two other men also are charged in the case. Shannon Chun and Sherwin Mitchell have pleaded not guilty to livestock theft. They are scheduled to go to trial next month and remain free on bail.

Requests from The Associated Press for comment from attorneys representing Chun and Mitchell were not immediately returned Tuesday.

Makaniolo was arrested following the thefts from the 250-acre farm, and was initially released without charges.
