Rep. Calvin Say Rep. Calvin Say

HONOLULU (AP) - The Hawaii House has scheduled a public hearing to discuss whether Rep. Calvin Say meets the qualifications to serve.

The former House Speaker is being challenged by voters who say he doesn't live in the district he represents.

A special committee assembled to handle the issue has announced a public hearing Friday.

The petitioners who brought the challenge will be given 20 minutes to present arguments and evidence, and Say will get 20 minutes to reply.

Committee members will then have a chance to ask questions. There will be no public testimony.

Say has said he looks forward to having a chance to respond.

The committee doesn't plan to make a decision Friday and will announce any decisions at a later date.
