KANEOHE, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A wind advisory is in effect for portions of Kauai, Oahu, Molokai, Maui and Lanai.
Strengthening southwest winds ahead of a cold front will likely produce wind gusts of up to 50 mph over and to the northeast of the higher terrain on most of the smaller islands from late this morning through this afternoon. Winds this strong can bring down tree branches and make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

1,740 customers without power in the Kailua area. 1,430 customers without power in the Kahuluu area, according to HECO.
