LIVE BLOG: Power outages reported around Hawaii

KANEOHE, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A wind advisory is in effect for portions of Kauai, Oahu, Molokai, Maui and Lanai.

Strengthening southwest winds ahead of a cold front will likely produce wind gusts of up to 50 mph over and to the northeast of the higher terrain on most of the smaller islands from late this morning through this afternoon. Winds this strong can bring down tree branches and make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

There have been several reports of power outages, here is the latest from Hawaiian Electric.

Kahaluu area update: Crews made repairs, restored all customers.  

Kailua update: Crews removed tree from lines, restored all customers

[Update 1 p.m.]

OAHU - 1,740 customers without power in the Kailua area. 1,430 customers without power in the Kahuluu area, according to HECO.

Update 11:20 a.m.]

Power has been restored to all remaining customers in Kaneohe.

Power has been restored to 1,430 customers, according to HECO.

A power outage has affected approximately 2,990 customers in the Kaneohe area, according to the Hawaiian Electric Company.

HECO sent out a tweet at around 7:30 a.m., notifying customers of the outage. Crews are on their way to the scene to make repairs and restore power.
