A broken fire hydrant prompted officials to close a portion of Kamehameha Hwy. in Aiea Saturday afternoon.

Officials say the hydrant broke shortly at about 2:45 p.m. on the highway near Kaonohi Street.

Police closed 2 eastbound lanes near HomeWorld while crews worked to shut off the water to the hydrant. The lanes were reopened by about 3:15 p.m.
