Honolulu-based Coast Guard cutter gets new commander

HONOLULU (AP) - A new commander has taken over leadership of the new Honolulu-based Coast Guard Cutter Sherman.

The Coast Guard says Capt. Aldante Vinciguerra relieved Capt. Kevin A. Jones on Wednesday.

Jones will assume command of the Cutter Rush, which is was decommissioned in a ceremony earlier this week. The Sherman is replacing the rush.

The Sherman is one of a new model of more capable ships recently acquired by the Coast Guard.

The service says it is working with the State Department to send the Rush to the Bangladesh Navy.
