H1 airport viaduct work continues eastbound this weekend

The State Department of Transportation will be enforcing lane closures in the eastbound direction on the H-1 Freeway Airport Viaduct for continuing deck repairs.

Starting Sunday, three lanes will be closed in the eastbound direction from the Radford Drive Overpass to the Airport off-ramp. The on-ramp from Joint Base Pearl Harbor Hickam will also be shutdown. Motorists are advised to use the shoulder lane through the work zone as an extra travel lane.

For the first time, construction crews will be applying a polyester sealant to the lanes. This material is designed to keep moisture out and increase the longevity of the concrete.

Weeknight lane closures are scheduled in the same eastbound area from Monday through Friday, 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. The DOT urges motorists to drive with caution and follow the posted signs.
