Big Island police sergeant arrested on multiple charges

BIG ISLAND (HawaiiNewsNow) - A Hawaiian Island police sergeant has been arrested and charged with domestic violence as well as threatening fellow officers.

Officials say the sergeant has been placed on administrative leave. Prior to his arrest, he was in charge of traffic enforcement for North and South   through all of Kona and Ka'u.

Hawaii County police say 62-year-old Marvin Kelly Troutman was taken into custody just before 2 a.m. On Thursday for allegedly assaulting and threatening a 55-year-old woman and an 18-year-old man.

When police responded, Troutman reportedly also threatened an officer. Officials say the arrest happened at a home on Kynner-sley Road.

Troutman has been charged with abuse of a family member and three counts of terroristic threatening.

Troutman is being held on a four thousand dollar bail, and has been with the force for at least 20 years.
