HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

The National Weather Service (NWS) has a wet forecast for the Hawaiian Islands.

The NWS reports that clouds and a few showers associated with a weak front are moving over Kauai and Oahu on Thursday. The front will gradually spread to Maui county Thursday night and Friday.

Some heavy pockets of rain will accompany the front, especially on windward and mauka sides and interior sections.Light trade winds will make a brief appearance over the weekend, and will focus lingering moisture over windward slopes and coasts.

A photo of a waterspout was posted to the Hawaii News Now Facebook page Thursday afternoon. Gerard Garcia who posted the image says the waterspout was spotted off Makaha.

We are expecting a stronger front next week that will likely be packed with rain and winds. Forecasters are still trying to figure out just how strong that front will be, "The GFS and ECMWF differ on the timing and strength of these fronts, thus the longer range forecast will potentially be subject to large changes."
