Army to host public meetings on potential troop reductions in Hawaii

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The general public is invited to provide input Tuesday night on possible U.S. Army reductions in Hawaii. The Pentagon proposed cutting up to 19,800 Army soldiers across the state by 2020, also affecting civilian employees and ultimately the state's economy, experts say.

Army leaders will hold two listening sessions in Hawaii this month to hear how the reductions and restructuring could impact them. They will begin the sessions with a short overview followed by discussions.

The listening sessions will be held as follows:

Location: Hale Koa Hotel, DeRussy Hall
