Hale Kipa's 'Paws for a Cause' expands operations with new dog daycare and youth job opportunities

Hale Kipa is opening a doggie daycare in Kaneohe that specializes in supervised, off-leash dog playtime while providing job skills for at-risk youth.

Hale Kipa has renovated the space of 46-178 Kahuhipa Street to provide a safe, specially designed area for dogs to play. The facility features toys, treats, comfy lounge furniture and a large active space that is well supervised by trained staff and a certified dog trainer.

Hale Kipa is furthering their mission by providing youth with job skills and financial sustainability with the programs 'Paws for a Cause' to help them regain a sense of trust, worth, confidence and responsibility.

Youth trainees will learn how to care for and supervise dogs at play while also learning other aspects of the dog daycare business, such as customer service, facility and inventory management, web design and photography, punctuality, teamwork and conflict resolution.

Media and the public are also welcome to attend a free Paws for a Cause Open House from 3-6 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 30, 2015, to meet staff, tour the facility, and enjoy light refreshments. Please leave your dog at home.
