HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -  For the first time since winning the Heisman Trophy, Marcus Mariota is back in Honolulu this weekend and even after his college career, he continues to haul in honors.

On Friday, the St. Louis alum accepted an award from the Polynesian Football Hall of Fame naming him the college football player of the year.

"This is an incredible feeling," Mariota said. "I think personally this is, means so much more than the Heisman trophy. It's truly special and I'm truly honored and privileged to be here today. First off, congratulations to all the hall of famers today. You guys paved the way for us and you paved the way for so many and all we can say is thank you."

Mariota is being honored with the PFHOF's 2015 class, which includes, Jesse Sapolu, Mark Tuinei, John Ellis, Russ Francis, Mosi Tatupu and Ray Schoenke.

The class will be officially inducted Saturday morning at the Polynesian Cultural Center.
