A strike authorization vote by Local 5 employees at Kaiser has PASSED. Ten days notice is required before an actual strike. Kaiser hasn't had a full-blown strike in 29 years. Local 5 represents almost 2,000 local Kaiser employees.

The Australian telecoms giant Telstra powers up faster speeds on the Pacific Internet. The new capacity is 100 gigs per second. Among the networks affected - Sydney to Hawaii, and Hawaii to the West Coast.

The Swiss power company ABB has built a solar-powered plane. It's going to fly around the world. Three U.S. stops are planned - New York, Phoenix and Hawaii - Hawaii first, probably in late April.

Credit.com says the average American, over a lifetime, pays almost 300 grand in interest - just interest - in Hawaii it's 313 grand, second highest in the nation - in California it's 369 grand.
