2nd annual preschool readiness day and early learning complex grand opening

WAIANAE, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

Kamehameha Schools' Ka Pua Initiative is hosting its 2nd annual Preschool Readiness Day in conjunction with a grand opening celebration to mark the completion of Early Learning Complex phase of the Community Learning Center at Ma‘ili (CLC-M).

The Preschool Readiness Day event is an opportunity to learn about different preschool programs and connect with various keiki resource providers. Families can also sign up for preschool seats at CLC-M's Preschool Complex, receive one-on-one support with filling out applications, learn about financial aid options, and participate in make-and-take activities which support educational development.

Wai‘anae Coast families with keiki ages 0-4 can find lots of information about the steps necessary to register keiki for preschool and the many resources available to make preschool affordable and accessible for families.

CLC-M opened on August 4, 2014 with the Preschool Complex and Infant & Toddler Center providing services for hundreds of families. The final building, an Early Learning Kauhale, will open in January. The kauhale provides a one-stop-shop for Wai‘anae Coast families to access a variety of early learning resources. The kauhale will provide early learning screening and assessments, family workshops and early learning developmental programs which will help families identify strategies to build upon strengths and address learning weaknesses for their children.

For families unable to attend the Preschool Readiness Event, but would like to see and learn more about the new Early Learning Kauhale and larger facility, CLC-M will be hosting tours on Wednesday mornings from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. and afternoons from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. in January. Please RSVP for these tours by contacting Malia Ka‘anoi at makaanoi@ksbe.edu or call 668-1517.

Located between Kaukama Road and St. John's Road at 87-790 Kulauku St. in Ma‘ili, the CLC-M was developed in collaboration with the Department of Hawaiian Home Lands.
