Phony contractor accused of scamming more than a dozen

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Honolulu Police say they will add even more theft charges to a man accused of scamming people by posing as a contractor. But they want to find him first.

Alexander Nebre is charged with multiple counts of theft already, now HPD's Financial Crimes Detail is adding to the list.

Nebre was supposed to be in court Thursday but when he didn't show, the judge issued several warrants and police haven't been able to track him down.

Police say Nebre knocks on the door of his victims, often elderly people, and offers to do contract work for them.

But instead of completing the job, he allegedly takes the money and runs.

"Use a licensed contractor, in this case, he wasn't licensed and he basically took the money and that's the recurring scam," says Lieutenant John McCarthy.

Police say there are more than a dozen victims so far.

If you know where Alexander Nebre is, call Crimestoppers at 955-8300.
