Kauai Lagoons sold for $60 million with golf course, homes

LIHUE, Hawaii (AP) - The Kauai Lagoons project and its 27-hole golf course has been sold to a Honolulu developer called Tower Development.

The Garden Island reports the property was sold for $60 million in a deal that closed on Dec. 31.

A spokesman for Marriott Vacations which owned the Lagoons says they had been marketing the property for a while.

The project spans 600 acres just south of Lihue airport.

The new owner hasn't revealed the company's plans for the project. Developer Ed Bushor of Tower Development says they are still in transition.

Ed Kinney of Marriott Vacations says the sale includes partially-built Ritz-Carlton residences. It also includes ready-to-build home sites with ocean and golf course views.

The property is entitled to build about 700 residential units.
