HONOLULU - The No. 10 University of Hawai'i men's volleyball team swept No. 3 Penn State, 26-24, 25-19, 25-18, Friday night at the Stan Sheriff Center to wrap up day two of the Outrigger Resorts Invitational.

UH (3-0, 0-0 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation) will play for the Outrigger title Sunday night against No. 8 UC Irvine (2-1, 0-0 MPSF), who swept No. 14 Ohio State (3-2, 2-0 Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association) in the day's earlier match.

The Rainbow Warriors were led by junior outside hitter Sinisa Zarkovic, who hit for a match-high 15 kills. Senior opposite Brook Sedore also added 11 kills and two service aces for the 'Bows, while libero Kolby Kanetake led the defense with 12 digs.  The Nittany Lions (0-2, 0-0 Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association) were led by PSU opposite Nick Goodell, who netted 14 kills.

The Warriors rallied back-and-forth with the Nittany Lions through the start of Set 1, before Sedore's first service ace of the night ignited a 7-2 run. PSU, however, quickly answered back eventually tying the score at 22-22. Neck-and-neck until the end, it was UH with the last word after Sedore pounded one past the Nittany Lions to finish the set.

With the score tied at 3-3 in Set 2, the 'Bows scored four straight, which included back-to-back double blocks by Sedore and Davis Holt, who tallied a match-high six blocks. UH maintained its lead and reeled off five-straight to take a commanding 24-17 lead. After a pair of Nittany Lion points, Sedore ended it with his 10th kill of the night.

UH scored eight straight points - aided by four PSU hitting errors - during a 12-2 run in Set 3 to take a dominant 15-5 lead. The Warriors went on to win the set 25-18 and defeat the Nittany Lions in the Outrigger for the second-straight year.

In the day's earlier match, UC Irvine defeated Ohio State, 26-24, 25-21, 25-22 with opposite Tamir Hershko leading the 'Eaters with 11 kills. The Buckeyes, however, put up a fight through each set, with opposite Nicholas Szerszen tying with Hershko for a match-high 11 kills as well.

The 'Bows and the Anteaters meet for the Outrigger Resorts Invitational on Sunday evening at 5:00 p.m. at the Stan Sheriff Center. UCI and UH are both tied 2-0 in tournament play.
