HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -  When Marcus Mariota starts the national championship game against Ohio State, he'll be without his top target.

Oregon wide receiver Darren Carrington has been suspended for the title game after failing an NCAA-administered drug test.

The freshman reportedly tested positive for marijuana and did not travel with the team to Texas.

Carrington has been a reliable cog in the Ducks attack, racking up more than 700 receiving yards and four touchdowns, including two last week against Florida State.

It's the second time in a matter of days Hawaii's Heisman trophy winner has to adjust to losing a wideout.

Number one receiver Devon Allen will also miss Monday's game because of a knee injury.

Kickoff against the Buckeyes is set for Monday afternoon at 3:30 pm Hawaii time on ESPN.
