Oahu teen gets 10-year sentence for beating death of elderly man

An Oahu teenager who pleaded guilty to beating a homeless man to death received a 10-year prison sentence on Thursday.

19-year-old RJ Marsolo of Palolo admitted he brutally attacked 83-year-old Mamerto "Eddie" Semana in Chinatown in December of 2013.

Semana suffered severe head and facial injuries and died two days after the beating.

Marsolo must serve at least three years and four months of his sentence before he becomes eligible for parole.
