Molokai man charged with attempted murder, rear-ended ex-girlfriend's car

MOLOKAI (HawaiiNewsNow) - Update:

The man who rear-ended his ex-girlfriend's car on Kamehameha V Highway has been charged with attempted murder.

38-year-old Pakluke Lau was originally arrested on multiple accounts of criminal property damage, terroristic threatening, reckless driving and violating a protection order.

Bail has been set at $115,000.

A Kaunakakai woman and her ex-boyfriend were injured Wednesday after crashing into each other in a vehicle accident, according to the Maui Police Department.

Police said at around 7:40 a.m., the 35-year-old woman was driving westbound on Kamehameha V Highway when she noticed the 38-year-old man, also of Kaunakakai, driving behind her at high speed. His vehicle then rammed into hers. The female was treated and later released for minor injuries.

Her ex-boyfriend suffered non-life threatening injuries, but was flown to Oahu for further treatment.

Police have opened the following cases: criminal property damage, terroristic threatening, reckless driving and violation for an order of protection.
