'Bows open Big West play with overtime heartbreaker

 Reese Morgan hit a go-ahead 3-pointer with 6.9 seconds remaining in overtime to spoil Hawaii's Big West opener as the Cal Poly Mustangs defeated the Rainbow Warriors, 61-57, Wednesday night at the Stan Sheriff Center.

Aaron Valdes led the 'Bows with 20 points, despite a poor shooting output from UH.

The 'Bows shot 33-percent from the field, going 18-of-55 on field goals.

With the loss, UH falls to 12-5 and 0-1 in the Big West.

Cal Poly improves to 8-5 and 1-0 in conference play.

The 'Bows return to action Saturday night against Cal State Northridge.

Tipoff is set for 7 pm at the Stan Sheriff Center.
