HONOLULU (AP) - Gov. David Ige is naming Obama administration executive Elizabeth Kim to lead the state Department of Labor.
Kim is currently the director of the Office of the Executive Secretariat at the U.S. Department of Labor.
Ige on Monday praised her knowledge and her experience at the national, state and local levels.
The governor also appointed a former Pacific Resources Partnership official to lead his communications team.
Cindy McMillan most recently led Pacific Resource Partnership's advocacy and communication efforts.
The consortium of carpenters and contractors is best known for running negative campaign advertisements against former Gov. Ben Cayetano during his unsuccessful bid for Honolulu mayor in 2012.
McMillan has also served as a legislative aide to Honolulu City Council members.
