Promoters prep for biggest New Year's Eve party in the state

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The "Party of the Year" enters its third year at Kakaako Waterfront Park with the festivities spread over 30 acres with three stages and ten acts.  It's combined with carnival rides and games and 45 food trucks and no shortage of enthusiasm.

"I would say one million people Tim what do you think!? Half a million? I think we'll be in excess of 10,000 plus tonight easily," said Rick Rock, Party of the Year Promoter.

Vendors spent the day firing up their booths setting up for what should be a long night.  Uncle Paul's ice cream is hoping for a hot night for sales.

"There will be a line here of thousands of people coming in. It's really a nice event because everyone is just here for a good time," said Paul Logan, Uncle's Ice Cream Sandwiches.

And don't forget the fireworks. They'll go off every hour on the hour starting at nine with 500 shells blasting off at midnight.

"Fireworks are every single hour so we're giving you something if you bring the family out, have them see the 9:00 show, the 10:00 show and the 11:00. Put them to bed early. And we have the grand finale at midnight," said Rock.

It's all leading up to the biggest number which is one as in the first day of the year.

"I look at it like this. It's New Year's Eve, why would you go to the same nightclub, same restaurant, same venue, same anyplace that you go to each week with your friends. It's a New Year. Come out to a new venue, new party, meet new people and make new friends and new memories," said Rock.

If you haven't bought your ticket yet it will cost you $60 at the door.  You can also pay more to bypass the line and go to the VIP area.
