AIEA, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

A two-vehicle accident on Kamehameha Highway on Wednesday led to power outages and road closures, authorities said. Honolulu police also arrested the driver of one of the cars involved.

According to police, at approximately 6:10 a.m., the male driver of a red sports car was traveling in the Ewa-bound direction of Kamehameha Highway, between Kaonohi and Kaahumanu Streets, when he ran a white SUV off the road. The SUV then hit a pole on one side of the road, then a transformer on the other side.

EMS arrived on scene shortly thereafter, but none of the drivers needed to be taken to the hospital. HPD also shut down all but one lane of Kamehameha Highway in the westbound direction, near Best Buy.

Police arrested the driver of the sports car, but are still investigating whether speed are alcohol are factors.

The crash also resulted in power outages for 515 customers, the Hawaiian Electric Company said, and crews are on scene making repairs.
