Witness testifies that Kapolei father ambushed son

HONOLULU (AP) - A 45-year-old Kapolei man was bound over for trial Tuesday on an attempted murder charge.

The Honolulu Star-Advertiser reports Charles Allen Lewis is charged in the stabbing of his 21-year-old son, Michael Lewis-Hashimoto.

Judge Paula Devens after a preliminary hearing confirmed Lewis' bail at $300,000 and he remains jailed.

Witness Alton Amasiu testified he saw Lewis at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 24 lurking outside his home holding a knife with a 9-inch blade. He says Lewis told him he was waiting for someone.

Amasiu testified that Lewis-Hashimoto pulled up across the street and that Lewis ran to the car, stabbed his son and chased him when the younger man ran out the passenger door.

Lewis-Hashimoto suffered a stab wound near his left collarbone and a cut on a finger.
