The Kahala Hotel & Resort is proud to kick off the 5th Annual Mele Mei celebration of Hawaii music, dance and culture with a special holiday preview concert on December 28 from 5 to 10 p.m. The dinner show will feature multiple Na Hoku Hanohano Award-winning artists Maunalua, Ku‘uipoKumukahi and Natalie Ai Kamau‘u. Tickets are $70 and can be reserved by calling (808) 739-8760.
Following the concert at The Kahala, Mele Mei month kicks off in May with a host of events and performances by Hanohano Award-winning artists and Lifetime Achievement Award honorees. From ukulele to steel guitar, traditional Hawaiian music to slack key, island reggae to rock and everything in between, Mele Mei will be a premier event for national and international participants and visitors. Other events will include Creative Lab workshops with the Hawaii International Film Festival and the state Department of Business, Economic Development & Tourism.
For those still looking for an event on New Year's Eve, The Kahala will ring in 2015 with “Bubbles By The Sea,” an evening under the stars where attendees can sip on bubbly at the Champagne Bar and nibble on chocolate at the confectionary bar. The $50 ticket includes entertainment by David Swanson performing Motown dance favorites and fireworks to usher in the new year. Dancing will go all night long and attire is fine resort wear. Tickets can be reserved by calling (808) 739-8760.
