20th Anniversary of the Vietnam Veterans Midnight Ceremony

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

On December 23rd, for the past 19 years, Vietnam Veterans and families have been quietly gathering at midnight to pay respect, honor and pray for those who died in the Vietnam conflict.

Both Fred Kobashigawa and Tom Sterling were part of the original founders of this ceremony 20 years ago. It started just as a handful of veterans, with no formal organization and wanting to have a candlelight Christmas vigil for their comrades.

Over the past two decades, participation has grown and the organizers would like to invite other veterans and families to join the candlelight ceremony.

The 20th Annual Vietnam Veterans Midnight Ceremony will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 23, 11:30 p.m. at the Vietnam Memorial (located on the ewa side of the State Capitol).
