Shark sighting closes Kailua-Kona beach park

KAILUA-KONA, HAWAII (HawaiiNewsNow) - Laaloa Beach Park also known as 'White Sands Beach' near Kailua-Kona is closed due to a sighting of a 12-foot tiger shark.

Authorties say the shark was spotted about 20 feet offshore, DLNR closed the beach around 1:30 p.m.

No other beach parks will be closed at this time. The beach will likely remain closed until Thursday.
