The Hawaiian Word of the Day is Waahila. Waahila is the name for the ridge on the eastern edge of Manoa valley that creates the boundary between the Manoa and Palolo valleys.
Waahila is also the name of a rain that falls in Manoa and Nuuanu, and the name of a chiefess who was skilled in dance.
Today, Waahila is home to the Waahila State Recreation Area and hiking trails, and also to the University of Hawaii's faculty housing.
