LIHUE, Hawaii (AP) - Developers aren't saying why a planned Lihue shopping center is being delayed.
There was a groundbreaking for the Hokulei Village Shopping Center in February and developers pledged to have it open as early as the end of the year.
The Garden Island reported Wednesday developers now say it will open sometime next summer but won't explain what has delayed construction.
The first phase is planned to include a Safeway, a Walgreens, a Petco and a Jack in the Box.
Located across from Chiefess Kamakahelei Middle School, the project has been in the works since 2008.
