HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - UPDATE: Opening statements were postponed in the trial against a man accused of stealing the mailbox of Honolulu Police Chief Louis Kealoha.
The trial was supposed to start Wednesday morning but was delayed because of an emergency involving the federal prosecutor. Gerard Puana is the uncle of Kat Kealoha, the chief's wife.
Puana is accused of taking their mailbox in June of last year.
The case brought to light a family dispute in which Puana and his 95-year-old mother accused Kat Kealoha of stealing their money. She denies taking money from her relatives.
The Kealohas are expected to testify during the trial, which could begin Thursday.
