Pavement Preservation begins in Maui; expect delays

LAHAINA, MAUI (HawaiiNewsNow) -

Motorists in Maui can expect delays starting in December. The County of Maui Department of Public Works announced the Highways Division Lahaina District will begin seal coating Ainakea Road next month.

Traffic will be restricted to one lane and access to driveways on the affected road will not be available as the sealant dries. The drying process should take between four and six hours.

The seal covering is used to protect the asphalt from natural elements and normal wear and tear

The work on Ainakea Road is being done under the guise of the Department of Public Works' pavement preservation program.Temporary walkways will be set up but residents are asked to keep parked vehicles off the street and turn off all irrigation systems.

Follow up memos will be sent to residents but if you have any questions, you are asked to call the Public Works' Lahaina District Office.
