KAHULUI, MAUI (HawaiiNewsNow) - Before most families were even popping their turkey in the oven, an ATM was being stolen from the Maui Arts and Cultural Center.
Thanksgiving morning between 9:55 a.m. and 10:55 a.m. police say the suspect(s) rammed the machine and then proceeded to pull it out. The culprits got away with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Police believe the vehicle used to damage and steal the ATM was a Nissan Frontier, due to pieces of a taillight left behind at the scene of the crime.
Earlier that morning a black 2004 Nissan Frontier was stolen in the Waihee area. The licence plate for the stolen Frontier is LBE-251. At this point it is unknown whether the two incidents are related.
If you have any information on either of these situations you are asked to call the Maui Police or Detective Derek Kaaukai of the Criminal Investigation Division at 244-6433.
