Big Island man dead after boat capsizes in Nevada

RENO, NEVADA (HawaiiNewsNow) - A Big Island man, his father, and brother are dead after their fishing boat capsized in a Nevada lake on Monday.

According to Emergency Response Coordinator Donald Pelt, the deceased are 78-year-old Fred Turner of California, 54-year-old Frank Turner of Sutcliffe, Nevada; and 62-year-old Bill Turner from Hawaii.

Officials were looking for the three men in the north end of Pyramid Lake, they had been missing since late Monday night.

Fred Turner's body was recovered on Tuesday, while Frank Turner and Bill Turner's bodies are still missing.

Search and rescue crews have ended the search for the two missing men. According to Pelt, the decision was made because the search area is too large due to the water's current. Prior to the decision, a helicopter and a fixed-wing plane searched from the air and divers went down beneath the boat and confirmed no one was in the water.
