House fire in Foster Village causes $330,000 in damages
HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -
A Foster Village home is in ruins after a two-alarm fire broke out around 7:30 p.m.
It took nine fire companies and 37 firefighters to extinguish the blaze that began in the back room of the one-story home on Piikea Street. All four adults who live in the home were not injured and declined Red Cross assistance.
One resident, Kekoa Morton, said he is thankful to be alive thanks to the quick actions of his uncle who he says saved him from the inferno. Morton is unsure how the fire started, saying the only electronics that were on were a TV and a lamp.
The blaze was so intense it caused seven people from a house up the road to evacuate due to the heavy smoke pouring out and blanketing the area.
The fire was finally put out around 8:30 p.m. Total damage to the home is estimated at $330,000.
