Marcus Mariota faced more pressure from the press gathered at his post-game media session than he did from Colorado's defense. In the home finale, and what could be his final game at Autzen Stadium, Mariota passed for 323 yards, ran for 73 more, and accounted for 4 touchdowns.
Afterwards, everyone wanted to know if he will enter the NFL draft once the season is done, or return for his final year of eligibility.
“If this was my last game at Autzen, it was really special and will be one of those things I'll hold close for the rest of my life” he said.
Even a 12-year old who was in attendance wanted to know. At the end of head coach Mark Helfrich's press conference, he boldly claimed the microphone and asked:
“Do you know anything about Marcus Mariota if he's staying or leaving”?
After a long, hearty and sincere chuckle, Helfrich responded.
“I have no idea”.
Marcus did allow for reflection when asked about his time in Eugene.
“I was kind of taking mental pictures and taking it all in. That's what my coaches and family told me to do today”.
He also revealed his timeline and decision-making process for the decision.
“As a family we'll wait until the season is done, kinda sit down together, weigh the pro's and con's and see what's best for us as a family”.
