No tsunami threat following 6.5-magnitude earthquake off Indonesia

A strong earthquake shook an area near Indonesia on Friday, but it was not strong enough to generate a tsunami threat to Hawaii.

The quake, which happened at 12:10 a.m., was measured at a 6.5 magnitude according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said, "based on all available data a destructive pacific-wide tsunami is not expected and there is no tsunami threat to Hawaii."

No injuries, damage, or power outages have been reported.
