The Great American Smoke Out – Set Your Quit Date & Choose Your Program!

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

Every year since 1977, the American Cancer Society has sponsored the Great American Smoke Out nation-wide on the third Thursday of November to help smokers quit cigarettes for at least one day, in hopes they will quit forever. This year it is set for Thursday, November 20th.

The Hawaii Tobacco Quitline offers free nicotine patches or gum as well as free phone-based coaching for adults wanting to quit tobacco. “We also have a web-only program that provides free nicotine gum or patches, and a great deal of tools that can help people quit smoking. That's really aimed for people who don't really want to talk to someone” said Pedro Haro, Spokesperson for the Hawaii Tobacco Quitline.

The Hawaii Tobacco Quitline can be accessed at 1-800-QUIT-NOW, or by visiting www.hawaiiquitline.org. Services are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, in a multitude of languages through translator services.
