Group planning Hawaii's largest beach cleanup

HONOLULU (AP) - Hui O Hee Nalu is inviting the public to a cleanup of over 15 popular surf sports and beach parks on Oahu's North Shore this weekend.

The cleanup will cover more than 15 miles from Kawela Bay to Haleiwa and Kahuku.

Hui O Hee Nalu says about 600 people collected nearly three tons of trash last year.

The group calls the annual event Hawaii's largest beach cleanup.

People will be meeting at the Turtle Bay Lawn at 8 a.m. Saturday for cleanup instructions and information. School buses are being rented to take people to various cleanup sites and bring them back to Turtle Bay Resort.
