COPY-Fake bicycle sign pops up on a Kailua road

HONOLULU (AP) - In Hawaii's seaside town of Kailua a rogue villager has posted an illegal sign warning drivers about disorderly bicyclists.

It's unclear who put up the sign that shows a woman cycling with her hair flowing gently in the breeze.

But residents are telling KHON http://goo.gl/yKr5qO that Japanese tourists are renting bikes to get to the beach and they don't know the rules of the road.

Residents complain that tourists are creating unsafe conditions by riding on the wrong side of the road and going against traffic signals.

Employees at a bike rental shop are handing out a Rules of the Road pamphlet, but it's all in English. The manager says they'll look into getting some printed in Japanese.

Rep. Chris Lee says he hopes to build a bike lane.
