HONOLULU (AP) - A 16-year-old Waimanalo boy will be tried as an adult for a fatal stabbing in July.

The Honolulu Star-Advertiser reports a grand jury has indicted KaAnoi Kipapa on a murder count in the July 5 stabbing death of 52-year-old Jolyn Kipapa, his adoptive mother.

A state Family Court judge on Oct. 30 waived the court's jurisdiction over Kipapa.

Circuit Judge Richard Perkins on Wednesday confirmed Kipapa's bail at $250,000. He's jailed at Oahu Community Correctional Center.

Deputy Prosecutor Chastity Imamura told Judge Perkins that Kipapa called police after the stabbing and said "something dark came over him and that his mom was in bed with blood all over her."

Imamura says the first officer responding to the family's home found Kipapa emerging from a back room covered in blood.
