Flood Advisory extended on Big Island

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The National Weather Service has extended a Flood Advisory for leeward areas of the Big Island of Hawaii until 12:15 a.m.

Forecasters aid radar showed heavy rain near Keahole Point, about eight miles north of Kailua-Kona. Other locations in the advisory include but are not limited to Puuanahulu and Kona Village Resort.

Earlier flood advisories for East Maui and the island of Kauai were canceled after heavy rain ended in those areas.

A departing upper trough has combined with the light winds to bring additional moisture to the islands. Short-lived downpours are possible through the afternoon for leeward and interior sections of all the islands. More stable weather is forecast to move in Wednesday and Thursday.
