HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Veterans and veterans' family members are called to come and participate at the Homeless Veterans Stand Down and Job Fair. Sunrise brought in the Event Coordinator, Iwie Tamashiro, from the Catholic Diocese Office of Social Ministry and the Director of the State of Hawaii Office of Veteran Affairs to talk about what a "stand down" is and why this Thursday is so important for those who protected our country.
A Stand Down is an event where members of the faith community, the military and social service agencies come together to provide assistance to veterans who are in crisis. This Stand Down focuses on housing assistance, employment opportunities and emotional support to those who fought in the name of the U.S.A.
The Homeless Veterans Stand Down and Job Fair is this Thursday, November 6 at the Hawaii National Guard Bower's Armory in Wahiawa. The event is from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. For more information or if you would like to donate to this great cause visit www.officeforsocialministry.org.
