HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -  The University of Hawaii announced Friday afternoon that Rainbow Warriors assistant coach Benjy Taylor will remain the interim head coach for the entire 2014-15 season.

The announcement comes days after former head coach Gib Arnold was relieved of his duties with the program.  Since Arnold's firing, there has also been talk that the school was considering hiring another coach to oversee the program for a year, but UH is sticking with Taylor.

"Benjy will provide leadership and guidance for the UH men's basketball program, while ensuring that our student-athletes continue to pursue athletic and academic success," said athletics director Ben Jay in a statement released to the media. "The student-athletes have expressed to me their desire to have Benjy at the helm and that is how we will proceed as we prepare for the start of the 2014-15 season."

The 'Bows open the year with an exhibition next Thursday against Hawaii Pacific University.
