HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The general election this Tuesday looms, and up for grabs are three seats as At-Large Trustees for the Office of Hawaiian Affairs. Sunrise continues its series of interviews with the candidates as Grace Lee is joined by Kellii Akina.
Akina who is a father of four and earned his Ph.D. from UH Manoa talks with Grace about his prior experience to possibly becoming a trustee and why he feels he is qualified for the job. If elected, Akina does not believe in the mission for Hawaii to become a sovereign nation. In place of earning independence for the 50th State, Akina believes OHA should put its money towards education and healthcare.
